SMS Opt-In Process
How visitors consent to text messages from Whitney Guests
Whitney Guests is a visitor management platform. Visitors check in on a self-service kiosk (an iPad at the front desk of the organization they are visiting). During check-in, the visitor may optionally enter their own mobile number. Typing a number reveals an unchecked-by-default consent checkbox labeled "Text me updates about this visit" with the disclosure "Whitney Guests sends 1-2 messages per visit. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
A phone number only receives messages if the visitor personally entered it and checked the box. Providing a number is optional and never required to check in, and numbers entered by staff are never sent messages.

What visitors receive
Immediately after opting in, the visitor receives a one-time confirmation text welcoming them and repeating the HELP/STOP and rate disclosures. After that, messages are transactional visit-status notifications only — for example, that a host approved or declined the visit request. Typical volume is 1–2 messages per visit. Content is never marketing or promotional, and messages are never recurring.
Visitors can opt out at any time by replying STOP, or reply HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may apply. Mobile numbers and SMS opt-in data are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
